Been lazy about posting my weird shenanigans lately but getting back to it!

Goal lately is getting more greens in by way of smoothies because I just haven’t been enjoying salads lately. Dark Leafy greens contain lots of important nutrients so I definitely get them in along with all my favorite meats and fish! I have a go-to greens powder I’ve been using along with organic power greens mix, but I’ve also been foraging for some wild stuff in our backyard! I found some bitter lettuce earlier this week and some dandelions today! Bonus is that the way bitter greens cause your mouth to salivate helps to secret enzymes and bile that help to break down your food. Pretty cool!

“I’ll have the grilled beef heart and a salad please” - said no one ever lol. Kidding actually I was that weirdo tonight!! Never thought I’d order that but here I am 🧝🏻‍♀️Since I’m on that gluten-free dairy-free train for a few more weeks, while everyone else had a Chick-fil-A Friday treat, I swung by the Peruvian place next to the dollar store (after I took my girls in to pick out somethjng) and picked up my beef heart meal lol.

It was actually delicious and I don’t feel like garbage woo hoo!

Cheers to all the peeps out there nourishing your body even when that chicken nugget box and Mac cheese is staring you down. I’ll have my Chick-fil-A again at some point but happy with my decision tonight😃✅I can feel my body healing slowly but surely!

Btw don’t think i mentioned but I got all messed up from some antibiotics recently that I had to take for strep throat. My gut is a wreck and my hormones are wacky too so that’s why I’m eating differently right now …👍

I recently started experiencing some signs of hormonal imbalance, and I know I'm not alone. Even just a few years ago, I wouldn't have connected the dots. I just didn't know, and that's okay, I give myself grace on that. Slowly but surely I am becoming more in tune with my body and educating myself so that I can recognize signs of trouble.

Did you know that statistics show about 80% of women suffer from hormonal imbalance? That's a staggering amount, and if you look at some of the signs above, you may find some symptoms that you're experiencing. Now I will say that just because you're experiencing one or more of the symptoms above, does not always mean you have a hormone imbalance. It could be rooted in something else, or your hormone imbalance could be caused by something else such as a congested liver or gut imbalance, just to name a couple of ideas. Or even to take it a step further, what is causing the gut issue? Could it be a mold exposure? Or heavy metal toxicity? This is something you may need to speak to your doctor about to find out where to begin and whether or not you need testing.

Ultimately the goal here is to find out what is causing your symptoms so that you can address that rather than masking symptoms and allowing the problem to remain.

All that to say, if you do have a hormonal imbalance happening, cutting back on caffeine or eliminating it is an excellent step in the right direction to supporting your hormones, but of course there could be other strategies that you need to implement as well :).

It was 38 degrees today and apparently “felt like 31”. We didn’t let the chilly weather stop us from getting outside and running around! We spent 45 minutes getting changed and loaded in the car 😂 and found a nice playground with no other people (more on that later..). I don’t know how people in colder climates dress children for outdoor play... it wasn’t easy putting on all the layers, hats and gloves but it was worth it. Honestly a cozy blanket and couch sounded great, but we all felt so much better after we played.

All that to say, don’t let the weather stop you from getting outside ❤️ we need the outdoors. We were designed for the outdoors and nature. Our bodies crave the sun (even on a cloudy day), the fresh air, the trees, the space to move our bodies. Support your body’s natural Rhythms by getting outside. You can do it, here’s your nudge 😘

Here’s a half eaten not so beautiful pic just to remind you to add in some veggies and fruits to your breakfast when you can! It’s a great opportunity to get in some extra nutrients in the AM. Just be sure to pair it with some solid protein and fat. This combo should keep you satiated much better than a carb focused breakfast (think muffins, bagel, waffles, cereal, etc).

Did you know that when we don’t properly nourish our bodies with the right nutrients that we tend to be hungrier? It’s our body’s natural way of trying to scavenge for what it needs. Unfortunately we don’t always fill it with what it’s looking for...think empty calories from processed foods like “100 calorie crackers” made of pixie dust and weird fillers. Maybe our body actually is looking for a source of protein from an animal, or some healthy fat from an avocado or some vitamins from some leafy greens. Depends on each individual’s needs at the time.

Sometimes we just need a mind shift that we aren’t eating to just put food in our bellies. We are programmed to eat foods that nourish us, but our emotions sometimes have us picking up foods that don’t match what our body needs. Selecting real whole foods that are nutrient dense and nourish us is a lot easier mindset than counting calories and keeping up with dieting. Sounds kind of strange, but give it a try sometime ❤️
